The story is ok. But just that. I don't know if I'm getting impatient in my old age with the writing in books I read, but please stop with the unrealistic dialogue. Using words like plethora in a regular conversation just puts my teeth on edge. Most people don't speak like that. That being said, the plot was pretty good without being too complicated. But if I could suggest one thing....stop with the cheese plugs. It may be a little better if you include an index of cheeses in the rear of the book, but with all of the long descriptions on cheeses it got so annoying that when one began I just skimmed ahead. The character got to be a little confusing as well as the reason the one character's mother was sneaking around in a veil. All in all it got to fussy and unbelievable which kinda made it tedious for this reader.

We waited a long time for this next Cheese shop mystery but it was worth the wait. Avery did not disappoint her readers. Great storylines kept you wondering right up to the end who the killer might be. Her eclectic band of characters make you feel like you have known them for years. Kudos on a winner, just don't wait so long to write the next one. lol
I just love the Cheese Shop Mysteries and what can I love more.........the Cookbook Nook series. This particular mystery was awesome, I really loved the plot. We had a winery mystery series but it came to an end sooner than I would have liked. The characters in the Cheese Shop Mysteries are like family. Now we have Rebecca and Charlotte' s love lives on the line hmmmm......... Great job Daryl once again you nailed it, looking forward to the next book.
This is one of my favorite books in one of my favorite series. The motivations of he characters are just a little different from other books. As always her cheese and wine knowledge is admirable. I bet the research is fun for this series. I highly recommend this book and series.
I like the book, although I don't think it is the best of the series. The plot was pretty good, and I like the characters. I'm not sure I like the fiancé, but he was missing during this book. I adore the twins and wish that Amy and Clair still lived with Charlotte.

My only complaint is that I get very tired of the minute descriptions of cheeses and wines that most people will never see in their lifetimes. It seems that every meal is described in complete detail, complete with the descriptions of how the cheese and wine taste. Maybe this information could be put in the end of the book for people who are interested so it doesn't detract from the plot.
This book, the fifth in the cheese shop mysteries by Avery Aames, is filled with great characters, plot twists and amazing food. In addition to the murder there is a mysterious stranger in a cloak. Charlotte, her cousin Matthew, Rebecca and Meredith all try and figure out what happened to Charlotte's houseguest. A classic whodunit with some great comedy thrown in with a cast of secondary characters! I just re-read this and I can't wait to try one of the recipes.
I had a hard time finishing this book. I like the characters but they seemed to come up with some pretty far-out theories about the murder then continued to go over them again and again. I found some of Charlotte's actions to be over-the-top, especially when she went along with some not-quite-legal schemes; how she avoided getting herself arrested is a mystery in itself, owed mostly to her close friendship with the Chief of Police. I evidently don't have a desire to know much about either cheese or wine since I started to skip over the many details about both as I made my way slowly through the story. Hopefully, the next title in the series will appeal to me more. Of course, it could be that I just missed Jordan...
In this installment by Avery Aames, I learned that wines can be murder. When a good friend of Matthew's comes to town to take a job at the local winery, and soon after is murdered, Charlotte, Matthew and Rebecca "investigate" the who and why of the crime. Unfortunately for Charlotte, her man, Jordon is out of town in protective custody to testify in another crime so she can't call on him to help. A nosey reporter appears in town during their investigation and adds another layer of intrigue to the story. I love learning about different cheeses, if only I could find a good cheese shop here to be able to taste them. The recipes in the back of the book are amazing. There is also a short read for a new series by Daryl Wood Gerber, Avery's real name, Inherit The Word. You'll want to read it and get it preordered since it comes out next month.
